--The new site is FINALLY coming together!

What you see is a live "beta" of the code to test the basic functions of the site. I'm happy to report that just about everything works as intended. There is still a few gliches here and there but overall the code works. This weekend I'm looking forward to cleaning up the site and seeing what else I can add!

      So much still to do!

Please note that every link still needs to be validated and 1000s more added. I'm sorry to report that many of these sites are no longer around.

My goal is to have the official relaunch the first week of September.

--To quote the Beatles "It's getting better all the time." Courtsey of the Frieden brothers, and a few others, the first Alpha release of Project Timberwolf has just been released.

      Amiga Source

      From Amigaworld.net

"We have to apologize for the long absence. Workload, personal issues and other things slowed down development considerably."

"However, we're finally able to make the first binary release of Timberwolf. This is going to be an Alpha version, meaning it will be prone to crashing and misbehavior, it will be slow, and not all functionality is implemented yet."

"Future plans include an update to the latest baseline source code of Firefox (3.7 beta), an Amiga-specific theme, as well as a major rewrite of the rendering code. The current version of the rendering code (Did we mention it's an alpha release ?) has some conceptual problems that will lead to mis-renderings, and massive overdraw (some web pages might be rendered 2 to 8 times, you may notice the window will turn black several times during page buildup)."

"Feedback is welcome; please point your browsers at http://amigans.net and visit the Timberwolf support forum."

"Have fun with the first release."

      --NEWS

Hello Amiga supporters. Well the cat is finally out of the bag. And what a cat it has turned out to be. Hyperion and A-Eon are releasing a high end Amiga motherboard/full computer system with a few surprises. Everyone welcome the X1000. Rather than add my personal comments all I am going to do is post some of the specs and a description from the site.

      10x USB 2.0
      1x Gigabit Ethernet
      2x PCIe x16 slots (1x16 or 2x8)
      2x PCIe x1 slots
      1x Xorro slot
      2x PCI legacy slots
      2x RS232
      4x SATA 2 connectors
      1x IDE connector
      JTAG connector
      1x Compact Flash

      The new X1000

      From
      www.a-eon.com

"At the start of this journey, we posed the question 'what is X?' The answer is that X is many things. X is the Xena/XMOS chip, and the Xorro slot that accompanies it. X is the mystery CPU, and above all, X is the AmigaOne X1000, the new complete desktop computer system from A-EON."

"It's almost 25 years since Commodore released the A1000 model that launched the line in the summer of 1985, and with the launch of the X1000 we will usher in a new beginning for the AmigaOS platform. Just as Commodore did with the A1000, we're aiming at the high-end first, with a powerful desktop computer aimed at the professional and serious hobbyist markets (although you won't have to wait until summer, and it should be a little cheaper!) The launch of the A1000 offered something new, and the X1000 will do the same. The world has moved on and custom chips no longer make much sense, but the X1000 offers a customisable chip as standard instead - 'Xena'."

"Thanks to Xena and the Xorro interface, the X1000 offers extraordinary flexibility. We believe that with this easy gateway to the world of 'Software Defined Silicon' and a path to massive parallelism, the X1000 will once more make the AmigaOS platform the best choice for truly creative and unique applications. For custom hardware control from robotics to theatrical lighting, for hobbyist creativity, for hardware hacking and for a multitude of applications we haven't even imagined yet, the X1000 is a dream platform - and therein lies another meaning of 'X', the unknown. It is you, not us, who will define the future."

"Of course that's far from all there is to the X1000. Even if you have no interest in the co-processor concept, the X1000 is by a large margin the most powerful and up-to-date platform for running AmigaOS. With a fast dual-core CPU and a full range of modern interfaces such as PCIe x16, SATA and USB 2.0, the already extremely responsive AmigaOS will at last have a truly high-end platform to run on. While AmigaOS has progressed massively over the last few years (and continues to develop more and more features at an impressive rate), the hardware to run it on has not kept pace. There was a time when we had great hardware as well as a great Operating System, and with the AmigaOne X1000, we can finally say that time is come again. While the entry level is currently well catered for by ACube's SAM motherboard, it is this return of AmigaOS to the high-end that truly ushers in a new beginning."

All I can say right now is WOW!!

--Happy New Years! And what a happy New Years it has turned out to be. Just in case you have not been following the latest Amiga news, Hyperion has just started dropping some subtle and not so subtle hints about their "MAP". (The Most Ambitious Project) and what a project is it turning out to be.

After spending 2+ hours of my time going through the 53+ page, 1000+ post comments thread on AmigaWorld.net. we discover that on 31 Dec Hyperion went live with the site www.a-eon.com asking us "What is X?". From that point on every day a new piece of the puzzle has been given culminating to todays latest tease. It would seem that Hyperion has been secretly working on a NEW Amiga motherboard. WOW. Who saw this coming? Well it does not take a genius to predict good things are soon coming our way!

News Flash. To Everyone in the Amiga Community!!

      Hello All.
AmigaSource.com is proud to announce that I have finally reached the 1000+ link mark. (1001 to be exact!) Since it's start a little over 1 year ago AmigaSource has been a solid replacement to the long gone Amiga Web Directory.
With over 40 easy to browse categories and basic search engine just about everything under the sun for the Amiga can be found here. From Software to Hardware, Articles to Shows & Other OS's to Miscellaneous, AmigaSource has attempted to catalog them all.
I have personally spent hundreds of hours locating, verifying & cataloging the 1000+ sites dedicated to the Amiga and computers in general. I ask you to please take the time and drop in, look around, make suggestions, point out errors/mistakes and most importantly add more sites!! If this site has helped just one Amiga user my job is done but I believe it can do MUCH more!!
I would also like everyone to PLEASE spread the word about AmigaSource. If you like what you see please add a link/graphic to my site. I'll do the same for you! I have learned a lot the past year and plan to keep improving the site. I have a few new ideas up my sleeves. Stay tuned!
To everyone who has contacted me in the past year thanks for your support!! To everyone else?? What are you waiting for??

For more information anout the site please visit the updated about AmigaSource page.

      Thank you

      -Hello All.

       -Well the rewrite has begun!!
         -Cleaned up the linkbar
         -Standardized the fonts
         -Cleaned 'About' page
         -Resized tables and graphics
-Added a total 'NEW' link count to each page

       -What's next?? (for now)
         -Fix comment page
-Add link name brief description to index page
-Correct the verified date. Defaults the date the page was created
         -Add pictures from Amiwest 2002
         -Add more sites

       -The Future
-Move the site to a "real" server and generate the pages dynamically!!

-Added a separate Morph/UAE/Amithlon category. Why?? Why not?? While they are not TRUELY the Amiga they can be placed together and given their own page. (If not to clutter up the other pages).

-Look for the 'NEW' icon to see the newest links added this week. (Approx 7 days worth) YES I KNOW THE IMAGE SUCKS!!! I'm also working on a script to add the page name and brief description to the main page for quick scanning.

-I am planning on relaunching the site on Oct 19th. AmigaSource's one year Anniversary. This should motivate me to complete the new site!

-That's it for now!! As always...THANKS to EVERYONE who has dropped in and has taken the time to send me an e-mail!

-Big thanks to Kevin Orme for hosting a mirror of this site on Amigau.com while my ISP was down!!! Proof there still are good left people in the Amiga Community!!!

      Enjoy!!!

      600+ links!!! YAHOO!!!

      Hello Everyone.

         - Looks like things are finally getting better in the world of Amiga?!?!? Amiga4.0 screenshots. DCE told not to cooperate with Hyperion. Ben Hermans being as outspoken as always. Amiga Anywhere Entertainment Pack # 1 being released. Amiga mentioned again on microsloth's website. More information about the AmigaOne and Pegasos.... AOS vs. MOS. Bickering, name calling, boycotts. Just more of the same. I could go on and on. But at least things are happening.

         - Well I'm finally making the change to move the site to a "working" server. Right now all the pages are created off line then ftp to the server. Not very dynamic. I have been working on coding the site using vb so I can have a real time site. Pages can be updated immediately, a GOOD WORKING search function, maybe a primative message board??? Who knows??

         - Once again I'm REALLY SORRY about the lack of updates. All I want to say is I'M STILL HERE and following the community everyday but I have to put the site on the back burner. But stay tuned I may have the a beta of the new site up in the next week or two!

         - THANKS to EVERYONE who has dropped in and has taken the time to send me an e-mail!

         - Added a LOST PAGES/LINKS. - A page of links that may or may not still be around. I just didn't want to TOTAL delete them from the database yet!!

-Once again, if you happen to find a broken or misdirecting link PLEASE let me know on the form page.

Well time for you all to enjoy!!!.

      Thanks,

      Hello Everyone.

I'll keep this short and simple. Welcome to AmigaSource!! Soon I hope to be the largest source of Amiga related information on the web. Just a few things I would like to let everyone know about this site without boring you.

          - I AM NOT A WEB PAGE DESIGNER. Just thought I need to stress this fact. If something isn't right let me know.

         - There are 500+ links to date with MANY more soon to be added.

         - This site is in the spirit of the Amiga Web Directory but is not a copy of it.

         - To make searching easier a link can be listed in up to THREE different categories. Sometimes it's hard to limit a link to just one category.

         - 98%+ of all the descriptions comes from the actual web page. When one was not present I created one.

         - The Author credited is either the actual author of the program, one of several the authors of the program, the hardware/software company or web site name.

         - The E-mail address is the best one I could find.

         - I don't intend AmigaSource to replace what is out there but rather be another well maintained source of Amiga information.

         - I take full responsibility for any ERRORS found in the listings. I have personally cataloged EVERY site and have done my best to make sure the information provided is correct. If you find something that needs to be corrected simply go to the form page and make the correction.

      NEWS

      -  Well the second day is almost over. I have spent nearly the whole day behind the keyboard making corrections, adding sites and just answering mail. I have just read that the reason that Amiga.org is down is due to a cracker. This is CRAZY!! What kind of JERK has nothing better to do than take down one of our communities best web site?? I hope that Wayne has the kindness in his heart to rebuild the site and put it back up. If not then the JERK who did this is no better than POND SCUM!!! And obviously has no real skill because he would have applied it to taking down a site like microsux and actually do some good!!!!

      -  Not that my opinion matters much but whenever the Amiga community receives "bad news" the first response should not be "FLAME ON", "THIS SUCKS" or "THAT'S IT. I'M GONE!!". First: We need to investigate and see if the information is even true. Second: We need to fully read and understand what is being stated. Third: If you put this all into perspective, there are weekend hobbies that generate more revenue than the current Amiga Market. Situations like this ARE NOT THE END OF THE WORLD. Currently we are a small, fractured, bitter but talented, motivated and no-nonsense group. What we all need to do is stick together and work as "some kind of a team" if we plan to be around next year.

      -  A VERY nice gentleman from the Amiga Community offered me a new Logo. I like it!! -  Once again, if you happen to find a broken or misdirecting link PLEASE let me know on the form page. I am the ONLY person maintaining this site so situations like this are going to happen.
      -  Enjoy!!!

      Hello Everyone.

      ALMOST THERE!!!
      Only
      74
more sites to go before I go public.

Fixed: A MAJOR format error with descriptions more than 512 characters

Welcome to AmigaSource. Soon to be the largest site for Amiga information on the web. Where to start?? This site is in the spirit of the Amiga Web Directory. When the AWD was taken off the web thousands of us Amiga users (past and present) were left high and dry for the type information that was kept there; a well indexed Amiga sites page.

Over a year and a half has now passed and there have been several sites that have added or created a catalog of current Amiga sites. None have reached the amount or ease of use the AWD had. I had been toying around with the idea of creating a successor to the AWD ever since it was taken down, but its only been in the past two months that I have got my act together and attempted to actually create this site!

All the Websites have come from various searches I have booked marked over the past few YEARS. 98%+ of the information pertaining to the sites found on AmigaSource have come from the ACTUAL web site. I have done as LITTLE editing as possible to their own description. When one wasn't available I have done my best to provide one.

What makes AmigaSource different is that each site can be listed in up to three different categories. It's hard to place many sites into one specific category so hopefully this will alleviate this problem. (For example a site can be listed under DEMOS, APPLICATIONS and HARDWARE INFO) Hopefully this will make finding information alot easier by placing a site in more than one category.

Let me apologize right now for the mistakes on AmigaSource. I have entered ALL of the data on this site by myself. I take FULL responsibility for incorrect URL's, the Authors information and E-mail address. The Author information I provide is the actual Author of the program, one of several the Authors of the program, the hardware/software company or web site name. The E-mail address is the BEST contact address that I could find.

This web site has been created the totally incorrect way. I have written my own program by hand to generate these pages rather than doing it using ASP or Perl scripting. It's been a lot to hard work but a total learning experience for me!! I'm working on an ASP version but it's low on my things to do list.

To get and keep this information as accurate as possible I'll need your feedback!! (and I'm sure you will give me feedback!!!)

I had planned to have this site up and running by AmiWest 2001. I was going to make the announcement the night before but as things always happen I wasn't able to get it to where I would be happy enough to release it to the world! I was at least able to tell Mr. McEwen about my little gift to the Amiga community!!

So for right now this is all I have. I'm working everyday adding new sites. Until I add an input/feedback page you can leave me feedback at the address below. This site has been checked using IBrowse, Aweb, Voyager, IE and Netscape. I have TRIED to keep it a plain as possible to make it work on all browsers but there might be some problems. I AM NOT A WEB DESIGNER. I DON'T CLAIM TO BE ONE!!! Just a diehard COMMODORE owner since 1982!!

I hope you enjoy what I have right now and help me make this the LARGEST information site for the Amiga on the net!!

      Thanks,
      Scott A Pistorino

P.S. I'm working on registering the domain name!
P.P.S. The Feedback page is not 100% operational yet. It works not just what I want yet.
P.P.P.S. Big thanks goes out to my friend wi
